On Friday, April 21, the British Foreign Office warned of a possible military strike on Syria by Britain and its NATO allies if the chemical attack in Douma is confirmed, sparking a furious debate on social media as many questioned why UK authorities would be prepared to commit troops to an attack on the Syrian people.
“If confirmed by US intelligence then we will consider a serious and proportionate response,” the foreign office said in a statement on Friday.
